Rev. Aaron M. Treadwell, Ph.D, Pastor

Bio

 Aaron Treadwell is an Ordained Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church and  Pastor at New Webb Grove AME Church, Murfreesboro, TN. Before moving to Murfreesboro, Rev. Treadwell pastored two congregations in the 11th Episcopal District, Florida Conference - Stewart Memorial AME Church, Perry, Florida; Oak Grove AME Church, Chattahoochee, Florida.

Aaron Treadwell, Ph.D. is also an Assistant professor of History at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) with a concentration of 19th Century US History, and Religious Studies. Dr. Treadwell is a graduate of Howard University, with a Ph.D. in History (2017), Florida State University (B.S. 2008), Emory University (M.Div. 2011), and Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (MASS 2013).

Dr. Treadwell is also an author. He has two books by the Louisiana State University Press, titled Tongues of Fire (2025) and Black Christian Evolution (2026). He has also has book reviews in the Oxford Journal, Southern Journal, and the Tennessee Historical Society; journal articles in The Journal of African American Studies, and Journal of African American History; he also has book chapters in books published by the University of Wisconsin Press, Equinox Publishing, and Peter Lang Publishing. In the AME Church, he is the managing editor of the AME Historical Review and a contributor to The Christian Recorder.

Aaron Treadwell is married to Jade Treadwell, and they have three children, Carter, Miles, and Ella. He is also a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Omicron Sigma Lambda Chapter (Murfreesboro, Tennessee).

Bio

Jade Treadwell is from Jacksonville, FL. where she attended Douglas Anderson School of the Arts. She holds a BFA and MFA degree in Dance Performance & Choreography from Florida State University. Professionally, she has performed with Staibdance, Clancyworks, and freelance work throughout DC, Maryland, and Atlanta. She is the Director of the Dance program at MTSU where she teaches Dance Conditioning & Kinesiology, Dance Performance Techniques, and Dance studies celebrating the legacies of blacks in dance. Additionally, she holds a Master of Science in Exercise Science from MTSU and is a Ph.D. Candidate with a concentration in Kinesiology. Her current research explores effective injury screening and rehabilitation protocols for university dance majors.
